The Advancement & External Relations (AER) team at the University
of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is the primary contact point for
alumni, development, and public relations. The AER Department plans
events for alumni and the community, including: Alumni Day, Convocation,
the Cameos of Caring Awards Gala and the Nursing Horizons Conference.
All aspects of gift development and fundraising are handled by AER
staff, including scholarship, memorial and class gift donations.
The AER team is responsible for producing the semi-annual Pitt Nurse
magazine and all School of Nursing print materials, in addition
to relating new stories to the local and national media.We are proud
to promote the School of Nursing, its alumni and friends!
- Center for Research &
Evaluation
(Director: Dr. Janice Dorman)
To help meet the School's growing commitment to research, the
Center for Research & Evaluation (CRE) was established in
the Fall of 1987. Not only does the School of Nursing have a full
complement of biomedical and data laboratories stocked with state-of-the-art
equipment, the CRE is staffed with statisticians, grants administrators
and clerical personnel.
- Center for Research
in Chronic Disorders
(Dr. Jacqueline Dunbar-Jacob)
The Center for Research in Chronic Disorders (CRCD) was founded
in October 1994 and is supported by a core center grant from the
NIH-NINR. The CRCD is, thus, an independent entity in the School
of Nursing. The Center provides infrastructure support for multidisciplinary,
outcomes based research in chronic disorders across the lifespan.
The Center is designed to provide support for the development
of science in the area of chronic disorders, with particular emphasis
on quality of life, functional status, cognitive function, and
adherence to treatment regimens as they are impacted by and impact
management of those disorders.
- Center for Innovation in Clinical Learning
(Interim Director: Dr. Helen Burns)
The center includes a computer lab, reading room and an audio-visual
viewing area. The school's nursing skills lab is also located
in the Center for Innovation in Clinical Learning (CICL). The skills lab provides a dedicated area for both
graduate and undergraduate students to acquire and practice new
skills and techniques in nursing care.

Dean

The administrative offices include the Dean, Associate Dean for
Student/Alumni Services and Development, the Associate Dean for
Clinical Education Program and the Assistant Dean for Administration.
A variety of personnel are available to assist faculty, staff,
students and the University offices with academic and administrative
issues.
- Student Services
(Director: Dr. Julius Kitutu)
Student Services serves as (in collaboration with faculty, staff,
and administration) an advocate for all students. It also functions
as a resource for faculty and students with University-related
student issues.
