CLINICAL EXPERTISE:
My primary interest lies in advanced medical/surgical nursing with
an emphasis in critical care, especially transplantation. I also
have expertise in leadership content relevant to the senior baccalaureate
student and pharmacology. I have published in various referred journals
on pharmacology updates. I maintain a faculty practice role at the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
TEACHING:
I have been on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of
Nursing since 1995. Since 2003, I am the Primary Teacher and
Clinical Instructor for the undergraduate Transition into Professional
Nursing course. I am a guest speaker for the undergraduate and
graduate
nursing programs. I am a faculty member for the Fast Track Back
Program which helps re-entry into practice for RN's. I have
lectured locally, nationally, and internationally on incorporating
high fidelity human simulated technology into undergraduate and
continuing education curricula. I currently advise undergraduate
students enrolled in independent study experiences. I received
a Provost's Innovation in Teaching Award that helped incorporate
High Fidelity Human Simulated technology into the undergraduate
program.
SERVICE:
I am a member of various school committees including Faculty Practice
and Policy and Bylaws. I am a member of Eta Chapter of Sigma Theta
Tau. I am a member of the Senate Library Committee.
RESEARCH:
I have received my PhD from the School of Health & Rehabilitation
Sciences with a minor in nursing through the School of Nursing.
My research studied barriers to outpatient care in community settings.
I conducted a research study with High Fidelity Human Simulated
Technology in the senior baccalaureate nursing student.
