CLINICAL EXPERTISE:

My primary interest lies in advanced medical/surgical nursing with an emphasis in critical care, especially transplantation. I also have expertise in leadership content relevant to the senior baccalaureate student and pharmacology. I have published in various referred journals on pharmacology updates. I maintain a faculty practice role at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

TEACHING:
I have been on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing since 1995. Since 2003, I am the Primary Teacher and Clinical Instructor for the undergraduate Transition into Professional Nursing course. I am a guest speaker for the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. I am a faculty member for the Fast Track Back Program which helps re-entry into practice for RN's. I have lectured locally, nationally, and internationally on incorporating high fidelity human simulated technology into undergraduate and continuing education curricula. I currently advise undergraduate students enrolled in independent study experiences. I received a Provost's Innovation in Teaching Award that helped incorporate High Fidelity Human Simulated technology into the undergraduate program.

SERVICE:
I am a member of various school committees including Faculty Practice and Policy and Bylaws. I am a member of Eta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. I am a member of the Senate Library Committee.

RESEARCH:
I have received my PhD from the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences with a minor in nursing through the School of Nursing. My research studied barriers to outpatient care in community settings. I conducted a research study with High Fidelity Human Simulated Technology in the senior baccalaureate nursing student.
