CLINICAL EXPERTISE:
My primary interest lies in advanced adult medical/surgical nursing with an emphasis in critical care, especially organ transplantation and gastrointestinal diseases. My 20 years of clinical experience has been at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During that time, I developed expertise in nursing administration and management. I have a special interest in managing professional and nonprofessional individuals. I have published regarding the boredom of long-term care patients and how to manage those difficult patients. I maintain a faculty practice role at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center with the Acute and Chronic Pain Service and doing clinical patient care on the Head and Neck Cancer surgical unit. I am a Nurse Consultant and expert witness.

TEACHING:
I have been on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing since 2001. I am the Primary Teacher and Clinical Instructor for the undergraduate junior course Nursing Management of the Adult with Acute/Complex Health Problems. I also teach in the sophomore and senior year as a clinical instructor. I have experience in incorporating High Fidelity Human Simulated technology into the curriculum.

SERVICE:
Currently, I am the Chairperson for the Penn Trafford Adult Education Committee for the township. I also service on the committee for the health fair development for Penn Township . I am currently a co chairperson of the BSN Council and the Faculty Health / Welfare Committee. I also serve on variety of other school committees including various task forces with respect to curriculum development.

Research:
I am currently enrolled in the PhD Program in the School of Education Department of Health, Physical and Recreation, in the Exercise Physiology Health Fitness and Wellness Promotion Track.
