RESEARCH:
My scholarly interests include gerontology, women's health and urinary
incontinence. My research has focused on urinary incontinence
in older women, men with prostate cancer and homebound elders. I
am currently the PI on an NINR funded study examining the effectiveness
of a relapse intervention in maintaining urinary continence in homebound
older adults, as well as the cost-effectiveness of providing behavioral
therapies for urinary incontinence in this population.
TEACHING:
I serve as an advisor for undergraduate, masters and doctoral students. I have taught geriatric management and women’s health management courses for nurse practitioner students, nursing research and a structure of knowledge course for doctoral students.
SERVICE:
I am Chair of the Department of Health Promotion and Development in the School of Nursing. I have a 20% appointment as Senior Nurse Scientist at the University of Basel Institute of Nursing Science.
I am a member of American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Gerontological Society of American, American Geriatric Society, International Continence Society, American Urogynecologic Society, The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society, Society for Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA). I am a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Clinical Investigation of WOCN and on the national planning committee for SUNA’s Annual Symposium.
