RESEARCH:
I have a secondary appointment at the Department of Biomedical informatics at the School of Medicine. My research interests are in cancer clinical trial informatics where I am currently developing A Standards-based tool for Clinical Trials Protocol Authoring. This proposal of standardizing clinical trial protocol files format and the authoring tool lays the foundation for the development of a workbench that can efficiently retrieve and utilize clinical trials data in order to enhance trial accrual. I am also involved in the development, summative evaluation and deployment of an Intelligent Tutoring System for diagnostic training in Melanoma Training.    Publications via PubMed

TEACHING:
I teach NURSP 2075/BIOINF 2109: Internet and Health Informatics in the spring which focuses on the design, development and evaluation of applications that support training, education and access to health information. I am also teaching NURSP 2075: Intro to Health Informatics in the fall and summer terms.  This course focuses on a conceptual foundation for understanding health informatics. In the summer I co-teach NURSP 2084:  Systematic Approaches to Data Analysis in Informatics This course covers key applications for data analysis in informatics practice.

SERVICE:
I am a member of the ‘Evidence based practice task force’ and the ‘Dean’s distinguished teaching award’ committee. I am also an honorary Chair of ‘La Cultura 2008’: University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
