RESEARCH:
I am a genetic epidemiologist, and my research interests include genetic education and the clustering type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune disorders in families, and their impact on women’s reproductive health. In addition, I direct an institutional training grant focusing on genomics in nursing research, and I also co-direct the WHO Collaboration Center for Disease Monitoring, Telecommunications and the Molecular Epidemiology of Diabetes Mellitus.
TEACHING:
Currently, I teach NUR 2050/3050: Grant Writing for graduate students. I have taught Introduction to Molecular Epidemiology and Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory at the Graduate School of Public Health. I have also taught the Summer Session, “Genetics in Epidemiology” at the University of Michigan and a Molecular Epidemiology Training Course in Beijing China.
SERVICE:
As Associate Dean for Scientific and International Affairs, my administrative responsibilities include oversight of the Center for Research and Evaluation and the Visiting Scholars and Doctoral Programs. I serve on the University Research Council at the University, and I am also a member of many public health and epidemiologic associations.
