RESEARCH:
Currently, I am principal investigator of two studies funded by
the National Cancer Institute. The grants are '"Menopausal
Symptom Relief for Women with Breast Cancer" which is a randomized,
placebo-controlled clinical study examining the use of acupuncture
for menopausal symptom management for women who experience following
treatment for breast cancer and "Menopause and Meditation
for Breast Cancer Survivors" which is a clinical trial of
the use of meditation to reduce menopausal hot flashes in both
breast cancer survivors and women with naturally occurring menopause.
I am Co-Principal Investigator with Sandra Engberg, PhD on the
NIH funded grant “Using Acupuncture for Urinary Incontinence”.
My research reflects my study of the intersection of women's lives
and their health. Previous funded research includes a study of
the herb Cimicifuga racemosa [Black cohosh] for menopausal symptom
relief as well exploration of adjustment after hysterectomy.
