| The University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown
(UPJ) offers an RN-BSN completion program in conjunction with the
School of Nursing. A purpose of this program at UPJ is to allow
RN students to complete the BSN degree without the need for travel
to Pittsburgh. Part-time and full-time study is available. A school
nurse certificate program is available for RN's enrolled in the
RN-BSN program and for RN's who already have an earned BSN degree.
Admission criteria for RN-BSN students are:
- Completion of an associate degree or a hospital-based nursing
program
- A QPA of 3.0 or above for the 50 prerequisite college credits
(25 designated credits and 25 elective credits)
- Current RN license
- Current CPR certification
- Up-to-date health exam
- Satisfactory completion of four designated Excelsior Challenge
Examinations.
In lieu of taking these four Excelsior Challenge examinations, students
will be advanced 40 credits if one of the the following conditions
is met:
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing within the past
three years
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing more than three
years ago with 1,000 hours of documented clinical practice in
the most recent three years.

courses at UPJ by being admitted through the Admissions Office,
