PROGRAM PURPOSE

The purpose of the Certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing Program is to provide students in BSN or MSN studies the opportunity to obtain a certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing.

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The certificate program comprises five 3-credit courses, including a precepted practicum, and electives. The five courses are:

  • NUR 1820/2820: Introduction to Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing
  • NUR 1821/2821: Advanced Practice in Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing
  • NUR 1822/2822: Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing Seminar and Practicum
  • NUR 1823/2823: Forensic Psychiatric Mental Health and Correctional Nursing
  • ADMJ 1100: Crime Scene Investigation

Completion of the certificate program is evidence of broad-based knowledge and skill in Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing.

 

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

In addition to meeting the objectives of the BSN or MSN programs, the graduate of the Certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing Program will:

  • Apply the knowledge and skills achieved in the undergraduate or graduate program in Legal Nurse Consulting and Forensic Nursing.
  • Be eligible to sit for a certification examination administered by The American College of Forensic Examiners International (ACFEI)
