~History~
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is the nation's largest, non-profit, student- managed organization. Founded in 1975 at Purdue University, NSBE has blossomed into a leading force in the lives of minority engineering students and those they impact on campuses across the nation. NSBE is comprised of 15,000 pre-college, collegiate, and alumni members, which includes international students from Asia, Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. The primary objectives that are the driving force behind this grand organization are: · Stimulate and develop student interest in engineering and technological disciplines · Increase the number of minority students studying engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels · Encourage members to seek advanced degrees in engineering or related fields and obtain professional engineering registrations · Encourage and advise minority youth in their pursuit of engineering careers · Promote public awareness of engineering and the opportunities for African Americans and other minorities in the profession · Function as a representative body on issues and development that affect the careers of African American and other minority |
