Other Studies
Our Group is Involved in
Our group is involved in several other related studies focusing on the genetic
and environmental underpinnings of psychiatric illnesses.
-
We are currently recruiting
individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and their
family members, as well as healthy controls, for two
separate NIMH funded studies. Through these studies,
which involve cognitive testing and functional magnetic
resonance imaging (fMRI), we hope to learn more about
the relationship between schizophrenia and cognition. We
are also exploring the possible genetic underpinnings of
schizophrenia through analysis of DNA samples collected
from study participants. -
We collaborate with researchers
abroad in India and in Egypt. These studies serve two
purposes: they provide training in psychiatric
genetic research to collaborators in developing
countries, and enrich our knowledge of psychiatric
disorders in international populations and by analyzing
this information in conjunction with results from U.S.
studies.
-
We also have collaborations with groups in Canada, China and other groups here
in the U.S. which constitute an important part of our effort.
