08/01/09 The Nationality Rooms now offers specially themed tours, based on creature symbolism, images of royalty, and folktales.  Please call 412.624.6000 to ask for a brochure or stop at the Information and Gift Center to get one.

07/16/08 The Children's International Summer Village program visited and received a Nationality Rooms tour, a scavenger hunt, international cookies (baked by members of Nationality Room committees), an exhibition of textiles and hats from the NRIEP collection, and a drawing activity in the Commons Room, Cathedral of Learning. Forty seven children from twelve countries attended.  They were from the USA, Canada, Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Costa Rica, Jordan,  and Egypt. 06/01/08 Welsh Room Announcement:

The Welsh Room
was blessed at 2:15 p.m. and formally dedicated in a ceremony at Heinz Chapel at 3 p.m. Rev. Katherine Horstman and Canon Richard Davies of the St. David's Society of Pittsburgh opened and closed the ceremony. Other speakers included the keynote speaker David Roderick, former CEO of United States Steel Corp. Vice Chancellor of Community Initiatives and Chief of Staff G. Reynolds Clark accepted the Ceremonial Key to the 27th Nationality Room, which represents a Non-Conformist chapel, patterned upon Pen-rhiw Chapel at St. Fagen's Museum of Welsh History near Cardiff. 05/12/08 The African Heritage Classroom has been updated with some additional information.

05/06/08 New Pittsburgh Symphony Music Director, Manfred Honeck, visited the Austrian Nationality Room. Maestro Honeck was hosted by the Austrian Nationality Room Committee and the Austrian American Cultural Society. Pictures of his visit can be seen on the AACS website.

06/21/06 Just in time for the room’s 65th dedication anniversary date (which is this June 28th), the Syria-Lebanon Room has been added to the Nationality Rooms web site. The "closer look" feature appears throughout the detail pages for this room. Enjoy!

05/17/05 An enhanced Chinese Room has been added to the Nationality Rooms web site. This room includes the "closer look" feature for most of details.

03/28/05 An enhanced Italian Room has been added to the Nationality Rooms web site. This room includes the "closer look" feature for some of the details as well as a new section called "desktops." Look for the desktops icon desktop icon once entering the Italian Room web page and decorate your computer's desktop with a little taste of Italy!

1/12/05 The African Heritage Classroom web page (created & designed by Larry Glasco) has been added to the Nationality Rooms web site.

12/17/04 Links to The Finnish Nationality Room Committee have been added to the rooms in planning and additional links pages.

11/15/04 A new section has been added to the Nationality Rooms homepage entitled holiday info.

08/25/04 Two more links have been added to the rooms in planning page and a link has been added to the additional links page. Favicons have been added to each Nationality Room page (with exception of the standard pages). Also, a date has been added on the homepage to clarify when this site was updated.

08/28/03 An enhanced Romanian Room has been added to the Nationality Rooms web site. This room includes the "closer look" feature for the large Byzantine mosaic and the pink marble floor.

07/28/03 An enhanced Lithuanian Room has been added to the Nationality Rooms web site. It includes the "a closer look" feature and, for the first time on this site, customized audio buttons. Some of the highlights of this room include a large fresco, a small wood carving and a chair made of rare bog oak.
