Howdy! This is my Academic web page. I am a Professor of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. My general area of expertise is Cognitive and Brain Sciences, with a research concentration in Experimental Aesthetics. Experimental aesthetics is the scientific, empirical study of the creation and appreciation of objects of art. I generally teach courses in Introductory Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Psychological Research Methods, History of Psychology, and courses in my specialty such as the Psychology of Visual Art and Artificial Intelligence. Here's a list of my papers and publications. I have begun compiling a small arts resume as well.

Every year Dr. Steven Stern and I host the Annual Laurel Highlands Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference in April. Undergraduate students in Psychology from various colleges and universities in the Tri-State area attend and present their research.

In terms of life outside UPJ, you’ve probably already figured out that I'm a body art enthusiast. Here is a progressive record of my tattoos.  I'm also a grizzled music veteran, here is an alphabetized list of the bands I've seen over the years. What else... I play a Stratocaster very badly and dabble in low-fidelity and high-fidelity photography. I'm a fan of Japanese pop culture. My culinary faves are Indian, Thai, Japanese, and anything that contains over 3,000 Scoville units.
