I was born in Washington D.C., but I grew up in Springfield, Virginia, about 20 minutes away from the nation's capital and five hours away from Pittsburgh. If I wasn't working here this summer, I'd probably be working for my mom back home doing data entry and sitting in front of a computer eight hours a day, which is what I have done for the past four summers. This summer I got the chance to work with a great group of summer students who I got to know really well - a bit too well, actually. You get to know a lot about people when you're with them nine hours a day, five days a week! I also got to work with a very, very, very patient graduate student named Todd Doehring, who taught me about robots, the spine, and of course, the evils of modern music and the subliminal messages they hold. Outside of the lab, I spent this summer volunteering at the Children's Hospital playrooms and helping to remodel the old Kappa Sigma Fraternity House into a livable place. As for future plans, I hope to get into medical school one day and possibly become an orthopaedic surgeon. But first I have to graduate from Pitt!
