The Cardiovascular Biomechanics Laboratory has an opening for a Laboratory Engineer funded by the NIH starting immediately.
Key responsibilities include:
- The development and maintenance of software and hardware aspects of specialized biomechanical testing equipment
- Develop and update lab manuals for all devices
- Develop and maintain device sign-up system
- Perform routine mechanical testing of tissue
Additional responsibilities:
- Organize and submit lab supply and equipment orders
- Serve as the lab point-person for lab tours, equipment maintenance, laboratory equipment/software
- Inventory and maintain adequate supply of general lab stock
- Oversee lab safety requirements, including disposing of hazardous chemicals and biological waste
Qualifications:
- Minimum B.S. in electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, with a desire to pursue a graduate degree in Engineering (M.S. Thesis, Professional M.S., Ph.D.)
- Experience and interest in mechanical testing device design and control
- Experience with MatLab and Labview
- Basic lab experience (handling chemicals, preparing solutions, etc.)
