Positions Available

The Cardiovascular Biomechanics Laboratory has an opening for a Laboratory Engineer funded by the NIH starting immediately.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The development and maintenance of software and hardware aspects of specialized biomechanical testing equipment
  • Develop and update lab manuals for all devices
  • Develop and maintain device sign-up system
  • Perform routine mechanical testing of tissue

Additional responsibilities:

  • Organize and submit lab supply and equipment orders
  • Serve as the lab point-person for lab tours, equipment maintenance, laboratory equipment/software
  • Inventory and maintain adequate supply of general lab stock
  • Oversee lab safety requirements, including disposing of hazardous chemicals and biological waste

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. in electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, with a desire to pursue a graduate degree in Engineering (M.S. Thesis, Professional M.S., Ph.D.)
  • Experience and interest in mechanical testing device design and control
  • Experience with MatLab and Labview
  • Basic lab experience (handling chemicals, preparing solutions, etc.)
