Teachers' Workshops
Model UN Training: Workshops at Your School
Workshops are presented by the staff of Global Solutions Pittsburgh (formerly World Federalist Association of Pittsburgh), University Center for International Studies (UCIS), and the University of Pittsburgh’s Model United Nations Club. Workshop facilitators will come to your school and present informative workshops and training on the following topics:
- What Happens at a Model UN?
- The History of the United Nations and Its Structures
- Parliamentary Procedure/Formal Debate
- Resolution Writing
- Researching Your Topic and Your Country
- Building Your Model UN Club
Workshops are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited in number.
Teachers’ Workshops: Making the Modern Middle East
This workshop will feature Dr. Soren Fanning of Robert Morris University, who will focus on the relevancy of Middle Eastern culture over the past 100 years.
The second half of the workshop will emphasize current events in the area, as well as suggestions and strategies for teaching these concepts. Curricular materials will be provided.
This workshop is being offered for three Act 48 continuing education credits, and is co-sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for International Studies.
