Profile
Prior to coming to the University of Pittsburgh as a part-time faculty member in 1990, Melanie O. Anderson worked as an Internal Auditor, Computer Auditor, and Accounting Manager for Quaker State Corporation for 13 years.  Anderson also worked for Werner Co. as a Business Analyst for 2 years. In 1996, Anderson began working full-time at the University instructing accounting and information systems courses.

Anderson is interested in accounting and business system software and has worked with Software 2000, JD Edwards, Computer Associates, and many Microsoft products. 

Anderson advises many business students in their coursework and future career paths. She serves as the Internship Coordinator for the business program at UPT.  Anderson has initiated several new programs at UPT, including the joint BS in Business Management with Pitt Bradford, and many certificate programs.  She is currently planning a 2005 Study Abroad trip for business students to the Czech Republic.

Anderson has been the UPT Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team's Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow for 5 years.  The UPT SIFE Team has developed 17 projects for many different target groups in our community, ranging in age from 8 to 80+.  The Team has been recognized for their work in the community by SIFE via Regional Championship awards (3 years), First Runner Up at the 2004 SIFE National Competition, and  various special competition awards.  UPT SIFE Team's web site.
