My Bio

This web page is being written as a requirement for my ENGR0011 class but the content in the page is mine and what is posted is my choice and is not the position of the university and does not reflect on the university policies.

My name is Matt Spering, and I am a freshman engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering. I previously attended Emmaus High School in Emmaus, PA. I enjoy playing video games, socializing with others on my floor in Tower C, playing and listening to music, and designing/building things. I plan on majoring in either mechanical or electrical engineering, as they each seem to apply what I like in math and physics to the world in an important way. I also plan to double major in economics, as I enjoy looking at the flow of capital and labor in both a global and market sense. I believe this will aid me in becoming a better engineer, and eventually lead to earning an MBA to lead projects in my respective field.

My favorite courses right now at the University of Pittsburgh are my Analytic Geometry and Calculus 3 course and my two economics courses: Intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics, as I enjoy learning in each of them due to the advanced nature and material taught in each. I am looking forward to applying for the PLUS 3 program soon, as I believe that a month abroad will advance my teambuilding and communication skills, as well as giving me valuable experience in the world outside of the prototypical classroom. I am interested in moving onto Co-Op programs in my later years at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as possibly going to graduate school to refine my field of study in engineering. While I have not joined any clubs at the University of Pittsburgh, some engineering clubs that interest me are the Formula SAE and Aero SAE clubs, as they involve constructing complex systems that work together to achieve a goal. I look forward to joining a few clubs as I get more involved in the University of Pittsburgh's engineering culture soon. Nothing is better than getting flamed in front of the whole class cause I didn't remember to use the stupid html apostrophe code.
