CWO
Cathedral Women's Organization

The CWO of St. John's Cathedral provides an avenue for the women of the parish to be of service of the parish community and its members, to promote a spirit of collegiality among the membership, and to grow spiritually and personally as a result of their membership and service.

Membership in the organization is granted to those women of the Cathedral parish who are sincere in pursuing the end of purpose of this organization.  The privilege of membership is also extended to the daughter of the member of the parish, even if she attends another parish.

The officers of this organization consist of the president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.  The Rector of the Cathedral is the Spiritual Advisor of the organization.  The officers are elected yearly. No one person may exceed a three year term of any given office.

The group sponsors various activities during the year.  Spiritual pursuits include corporate communion, recitation of the rosary after Liturgy on Sundays, visitation of the shut-ins of the parish.  On a practical level, the membership provides a breakfast for the First Holy Communion class and their families, and crafts items during the summer months for the annual Fall Festival, a major parish fundraising effort.
During 1999, altar cloths for the Lenten and Easter seasons were purchased by the group.  In previous years, the group has attended the multi-denominational Holiday Concert at Heinz Hall, sponsored a Fashion Show as well as pilgrimages to local shrines.
