Results of the first phase of a long-term research project in the lowlands of the Colombian Caribbean are reported in this volume. The main objective of the study is to contribute to the understanding of the sociocultural changes experienced by prehispanic societies in this region. Findings are presented from a systematic survey of 20 square kilometers in the Municipality of Tubará, as well as from four excavations at three different archaeological sites.
