How to Order | by Josefina Bautista Martínez and Albertina Ortega Palma Cranial deformation was an accepted and widespread cultural practice in Mesoamerica. This study provides results of the analysis of more than 500 human skulls belonging to the Solórzano Collection. Most of the specimens come from western Mesoamerica, mainly from the states of Jalisco, Michoacán, Colima, and Nayarit. The volume provides details on the specimens, such as type and variaties of deformations that are infrequent in other collections and regions of Mexico and the Americas. It also presents a large number of cases showing pathological alterations and shows how, in some cases, the techniques applied considerable sophistication to achieve extreme deformation. In Spanish.
