Gore Vidal Foreign Book List
Here's a language-by-language list of books and writing by Gore
Vidal in translation.
Vidal's work has been published in at least 38 foreign languages (plus an
essay published in Braille). There's also a
Russian-language edition of one book printed in Armenia but, as far as I
can tell, no actual translation into Armenian. A
Indian scholar, Jayanto Ghosh, has translated one of Vidal's essays into
Bengali. The essay has not yet been published, but the translator has
provided an
excerpt of that translation to The Gore Vidal Index. Nor has Vidal
been published in Urdu, although a Pakistani psychiatrist living in London
is working on a translation of Messiah that he some day hopes to
publish. He has provided the Index with this Urdu
sample of the book's title and Vidal's name beneath it.
The chart at the top of this page permits you to jump quickly to the
language you desire. I also have a link in the Index that allows you to
see more than 200
covers from Vidal's books in translation.
