Background:

I obtained a Bachelor in Mathematical Engineering and a Mathematical Engineering Professional Degree from the Department of Mathematical Engineering of the University of Chile under the supervision of Professor Andrés Weintraub. In 2009 I completed my Ph.D. at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) of Georgia Institute of Technology under the supervision of Professor George L. Nemhauser and Professor Shabbir Ahmed. I then spent a year (August 2009 - August 2010) at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center as the 2009 Herman Goldstine Postdoctoral Fellow. During this time I was also on leave from a position as a visiting assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Pittsburgh. I rejoined the department as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in September 2010.
