Jeremiah Beiter

My name is Jeremiah Beiter. I am the son of Dr. John Walter Beiter and Anita Marie Posner. I grew up near the Pittsburgh area in a town called Harrison City. There I attended Penn Trafford High School and excelled in my classes. It was while attending Penn Trafford High School that I developed the academic strengths that led me to the University of Pittsburgh. The Math and Science departments allowed me to realize my potential and helped me come to the decision of pursuing engineering. Here at the Swanson School for Engineering, I have decided to pursue Mechanical Engineering. My passion for the physical aspects of engineering reassured this decision. I enjoy tinkering with just about anything. I believe my curiosity for how things work, what they are made of, and how I could possibly make them better makes me the perfect match for Mechanical Engineering. Not only am I passionate in my studies but I am also strongly devoted to many things outside the classroom. I am an avid snowboarder, wakeboarder, and mountain biker. If I could have a say in exactly where my degree would take me, I would vote for working in one of those industries creating the equipment that fuel my sports. I have been very fortunate and have traveled to various locations in my life already. I enjoy discovering new areas. I hope that Mechanical Engineering will give me the opportunity to see many more. I also hope it will provide me with the financial stability to create a home anywhere that I desire. Since the majority of my hobbies take me outdoors, I hope that I will be able to use my degree to improve the quality of life for all by creating new and useful innovations and in providing a better environment to live in as well.
