About me

My name is James Bickerstaff and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh, and I am enrolled in the Swanson School of Engineering. I am currently 18 years old and I am from the city Erie, Pennsylvania, where I attended high school at Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy. My favorite subject to study in high school was technology. I had taken every technology class in my high school by the time I graduated, and these covered several different programs and coding languages. Among these things I learned how to use includes Autodesk inventor, Autodesk 3ds max, html, c++, and java. I enjoyed the c++ class the most, however, because we did various projects that allowed us to use the skills taught to us to create programs and games like a guessing game, PIG, and much more. I also felt it was a very practical coding laguage to become familiar with, so that was another reason I enjoyed it so much.

In my family it is myself, my mom and dad, and I have two sisters. One sister is in eighth grade, while the other is a junior at Pitt. When I'm home I like hanging out with my friends and doing various things like going out to Moe's for food, playing video games, sports, and whatever else we can think of.

I made the decision to attend Pitt in the spring of 2017 and came in with the intent of studing and majoring in computer engineering. This is something I've been very interested in for the past few years, since late in grade school as well. Now I intend to pursue this dream of mine and to graduate from Pitt and the Swanson School of Engineering with a Bachelor's degree in computer science so I may go out into the world and do the work I love.
