Music: | I enjoy listening to most types of music (Country and Western excepted), but truly love classical music. I used to play the viola ("How do you know when you've got a viola section on your doorstep? Nobody can find the key and none of them know when to come in.") and continue to be musically active with choruses at school and in the community. I've performed with the Princeton and Duke Chapel Choirs, the Durham Regional Chorus in North Carolina, the Kennebec Valley Choral Society in Maine, and the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh. |
Sports: | Running, Biking, Working Out, Swimming in Maine lakes, Ultimate Frisbee |
Ballroom Dancing: | I have particular weaknesses for the Viennese Waltz, the Polka, and Swing. |
Cooking: | I enjoy cooking spicy and vegetarian dishes; my favorite, however, is making cakes, tortes and other desserts. |
Films: | All kinds: silent, contemporary, independent, Hollywood, foreign, etc. |
Family and background:
I was born in Germany, but spent most of my youth in Southern California. My parents have since moved to Provo, Utah, where my father teaches at Brigham Young University. I come from a large family (7 siblings) and am most happily married to Tania Rands Lyon.
Tania and I are now the very proud parents of a daughter, Sophie. To see pictures of her, click here.
