Name of Site: Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: A Primer

Description of Site: This site is sponsored by the Law Review at the University of Akron.

Site Functions: This site serves to address many questions and details pertaining to sexual harassment. Sections within this web site include an introductory overview, statistics, federal law and limitations on damages. The primer provides information on the history and current applicability of sexual harassment laws. For instance, a detailed description of using quid pro quo as the legal basis for a sexual harassment suit is discussed. By a stronger Title VIII legislation, it is easier for a person to file claims of harassment based on quid pro quo and a hostile work environment. By using illustrations of several landmark sexual harassment cases, pictures of different hostile work conditions are presented. The authors also provide guidelines on how to combat sexual harassment in the workplace.

Evaluation: This web site is definitely of use for the personnel manager interested in halting sexual harassment within his work environment. Its guidelines on sexual harassment in the work place should be essential reading for any manager; it presents a firm policy a company should adopt to stop and to address sexual harassment. The overview and discussion of the detailed components of sexual harassment law are also quite informative and useful.
