Hello. My name is Joseph Miccio and I was born in Flushing, New York. I have lived in Bayside, Queens my entire life (before comming to the University of Pittsburgh), and would have it no other way. I attended P.S. 203 for grade school, M.S. 74 for middle school, and St. Francis Preparatory School for high school. I have two older sisters, Jaclyn and Marissa, along with a cat named Tuxedo (it way my mother's choice of name) and a boston terrier named Toby. Sadly, I had to give my two turles away to come to Pittsburgh, since I was not able to keep them at my current residence in Litchfield Tower B.
I have many hobbies, including baseball, basketball, football. I still enjoy playing these sports from time to time, but it has become increasingly more difficult as I acquire more responsibility in college. In addition, I enjoy funny movies, including basically every Will Ferrell movie. My favorite funny movie of all time has to be Zoolander, hands down.
After researching various colleges in my junior year of highschool, I found that PITT was a great fit for me. It is the perfect balance of strong academics, great sports, and a fun social life. Although I have alot of work in the engineering program, I still find time for fun and to attend the football and basketball games. I have an intended major in chemical engineering (with a possible minor in materials science), but I may also take afew bio courses in order to apply to med school. If I stay with chemical engineering as a profession, however, I plan to apply my knowlege to alternative energy sources, since I feel it is a nobel cause, and I believe it is where the job market will be moving towards in the next few years.
