International Symposium on Ligaments and Tendons III
New Orleans, LA February 1, 2003
Welcome
We would like to welcome you to the third International Symposium on Ligaments and Tendons (ISL&T-III). In the past, we have been able to successfully bring together biologists, clinicians and bioengineers under one roof to present and discuss new developments in ligament and tendon research.
ISL&T-III is again a high-quality, focused meeting devoted to ligament and tendon biomechanics, biology, tissue engineering and treatments of injury. ISL&T-III will include sessions on biology and function of ligaments and tendons, biomechanics of upper and lower extremities, tissue engineering, pathophysiology and other hot topics. This year's highlight will consist of a special symposium on tendinopathy.
We thank our local hosts, Dr. Deryk Jones and his staff in Tulane University for all their assistance in the planning of this meeting. In New Orleans, we are looking forward to free exchange of current scientific information, lively discussion as well as the renewal of friendships and making new ones.
Sincerely,
Savio L-Y. Woo, Ph.D., D.Sc.
Zong-Ming Li, Ph.D.
Fengyan Jia, M.D.

General Information
Aims of the Symposium
The International Symposium on Ligaments & Tendons provides a forum to discuss state-of-the-art ligament and tendon research. By bringing together some of the best minds in the field, we hope to address challenging problems in ligament and tendon biomechanics and biology, and set new research directions that hold great potential for the future.
ISL&T-III will be at Tulane University School of Medicine Auditorium, located at 1430 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70112.

A Message to Moderators
Thank you for participating as a moderator in ISL&T - III. Please arrive in the presentation room at least 15 minutes before the session is scheduled to begin, in order to gather all the presenters and to work with the projectionist. For each presentation, please introduce the speaker, their affiliation, and the title of the presentation.
Moderators are responsible for keeping the sessions on schedule. Please ensure that each presentation starts and ends on time, and that there is sufficient time for questions and discussion within the allotted time.
Instructions for Podium Presentation
The goal of the International Symposium on Ligaments and Tendons is to discuss state-of-the-art knowledge and to present new directions for research. Therefore, the time for presentations has been limited, in favor of discussion. Please see the presentation formats listed below. We have asked your moderators to adhere to the time allotted for your presentation as well as the number of slides.
Presentation Formats
- For Session 1, Session 2 & Session 3
- 10 min presentations each immediately followed by a 5 min discussion.
- Maximum 10 PowerPoint slides for computer presentation.
- For Session 4A & Session 4B
- 5 min presentations followed by a group discussion of 2-3 papers.
- Maximum 5 PowerPoint slides for computer presentation.
Presentation Requirements
Kindly note that all speakers must be prepared to present their research using PowerPoint computer projection. We ask that you send your PowerPoint presentation file to us by January 20, 2003 so that we can load all talks into a master computer prior to the symposium. Please make sure you clearly label your file with the author's name and the title of your presentation.
In view of time and the large number of talks, there will be no opportunity for you to use your personal computer or load your PowerPoint file during the symposium.
All speakers are asked to check-in with the session moderators at least 15 minutes before the session in which they will present to meet the projectionist and the moderator.
Instructions for Poster Presentation
All posters should be no larger than 45" x 45". Poster boards will be available in the lobby prior to registration. Please set up your poster between 7:30 am - 8:00 am and leave the posters up throughout the day. Posters are to be taken down by 5:30 pm.
