Welcome to Career Corner….your spot for career & internship information.

The Office of Career Services provides career exploration and experiential-education opportunities, as well as career-related events during the academic year, which take place both on and off campus. 

We know that career-related topics and activities are sometimes introduced in specific courses and would like to offer our services to assist you with these efforts. We offer:

·         Career counseling and assessment tools (e.g., Discover, Myers Briggs, Self-Directed Search, Strong
       Interest Inventory)

·         Career-related workshops, both in the classroom and extracurricular

·         On-campus recruitment and job fairs

·         Resume and cover letter critique

·         Interview preparation and practice

·         Major-related speakers (particularly during Pitt-Greensburg’s Career Month in the spring)

·         On-line tools to research experiential-education opportunities and entry-level positions

·         Career Resource Library (Chambers 218)

Information Sessions will be offered to promote various off-campus events, including University of Pittsburgh Fall Job & Internship Fair, PHRA Conference, Scholars in Service, and the WestPACS Job & Internship Fair.

 

On-Campus Recruitment: Throughout the year, we will send you information and/or announce various employers who are recruiting on campus. We will send targeted emails and announcements to faculty regarding these major-related opportunities.

Opportunity: Tutoring Position/Physical Assistant
Time Frame/Salary: January 4-April 28, 2012; $13/hour - Employed by student, not Pitt-Greensburg
Description: • TRAVEL TO STUDENT’S HOUSE IN NEW ALEXANDRIA , PA
• Seeking a reliable, responsible, outgoing Pitt-Greensburg student willing to work with a person with physical limitations

Days and Hours:
Someone who is willing to work throughout the week, the amount of hours and days for tutoring will be worked out upon being hired.
- Days looking for: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday
- Afternoon hours preferred: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between the hours of 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
- Tuesday & Thursday between the hours of 1:30 to 5 p.m.
- The Shifts: usually 2–2.5 hours. Depending on what is decided upon hire.
- Assist with the following activities: writing note cards, typing up notes or assist with getting notes off a recorder from class, typing a paper from dictation, organizing binders/materials, editing papers, writing out written assignments from dictation, writing e-mails from dictation, highlighting, help understanding directions/text, help put together hands-on projects that student will do the work for, but will need help putting together, going to the library with student, student is responsible for own work, but
opinion may be asked on a subject.

SOPA Hoops Saturday
Date:  Saturday, January 7, 2012
Time:  Men's Game - 2 p.m.;
            Women's Game - 4 p.m.;
            SOPA (Special Olympics Pennsylvania) - halftime of women's contest

Game Tickets:  Adults - $5; Children (12 and under) - $3

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County.

Memberships available for $70 (July -June) or $35 (January-June; will be pro-rated by month of purchase) in the Office of Student Services (219 Chambers Hall) via check, cash or money order. 
 

Normal Hours:
Monday-Thursday:  7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday:  10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday:  12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Fitness at lunch hour - in gymnasium
Mondays and Wednesdays
noon - 12:45 p.m.

Millstein Library Hours


Monday-Thursday: 8:30 a.m.-11 p.m.
Friday:  8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday:  10 a.m.-6 p.m.
