Details:

Invited participants not listed on the programme include: Ben Bayer (Colorado Coll.), Christian Beenfeldt (Oxford/Copenhagen), Tara Smith (UT-Austin) and Matt Soteriou (Warwick). The other members of the Warwick department have been invited to attend as well. Otherwise it is a closed Workshop.

Sessions: Sessions will last 2 hours. Main talks should last up to 50 mins, comments up to 20 mins, leaving at least 50 mins for discussion.

Additional Materials: Workshop participants not scheduled to present papers have been invited to provide, as optional reading for the workshop, a paper or book-chapter relevant to the topic of one or more sessions. These materials have been grouped, so far as possible, by session, and may be found here.

Sponsorship: The Workshop is co-sponsored by the Warwick philosophy dept (largely via a grant from the Anthem Foundation), Allan Gotthelf's Pitt Fellowship for the Study of Objectivism, and Tara Smith's BB&T chair at UT-Austin. The Anthem and BB&T Foundations have an interest in fostering a closer examination by the philosophical profession of Ayn Rand's philosophical system. Since some of our participants make use of ideas from Rand in their own work on our topics, the Foundations are happy to support the workshop.

Participant funding: All participants will be covered for travel and accommodation (arr. Thursday dept. Monday for US participants; arr. Friday dept. Sunday eve for GB participants), plus meals (incl. Conference dinner) and other refreshments during the conference. US participants will be reimbursed for travel originating in the US through the HPS dept at Pittsburgh; Allan Gotthelf will be in touch in regard to arrangement. Both US and GB participants will be reimbursed for their travel within GB through Warwick.

For further information: Please get in touch either with Bill Brewer (b.brewer@warwick.ac.uk) or Allan Gotthelf (gotthelf@pitt.edu).
