A little bit of background...

I grew up in Arizona, but my heart has always been in California where I was born. However, after graduating from Arizona State University with a B.S. degree in Biology I somehow ended up on the opposite coast! I worked for two years in Dr. Michael Moore’s lab as a student lab assistant before moving 2500 miles to pursue my PhD in Ecology and Evolution with Dr. Rick Relyea. Currently I live in Pittsburgh where I am enjoying the snow and humidity with two cats, two bearded dragons, and a kangaroo rat.

When I’m not thoroughly engrossed in biology or studies, I pursue an eclectic mix of hobbies. I practice Kundalini, Yin, and Yoga 1 at Schoolhouse Yoga, bake cupcakes from scratch, and fill my hours with music in various forms. Right now I’m attempting to learn to play my beautiful zebrawood Washburn guitar and to improve my tarot card reading. I am also involved with Invisible Children, and my 5 year plan includes trips to Northern Uganda, Socotra Island, and Madagascar.
