In recent years, the work of Franco Moretti and Pascale Casanova have renewed interest in the topic. Both have elaborated theories that revisit, sometimes in a radical way, the geo-literary object of comparative literature. The articles in the present volume seek an answer to their critical-theoretical challenge from a Latin American perspective. Thus, this book collectively evaluates their contributions to readings of the region's literary production from the "World literature" paradigm, while presenting criticisms and alternatives to the limitations of models such as Casanova's "World Republic of Letters" or Moretti's "Graphs, Maps and Trees". In this way, some of the leading figures of Latin American literary and cultural studies ask the question of the legitimacy of this new interpretive model and its ideological and epistemological implications for the Latin American case. -Ignacio M.
