8th Annual Intercollegiate Dayton Model United Nations Conference
Sixteen colleges and universities from the mid-Atlantic region convened in Dayton for the 8th annual Dayton Model United Nations February 7-10, 2001, this year simulating an international Conference on Racism. The DAYMUN conference was hosted by Wright State University, the University of Dayton, and Sinclair College. The UPJ team included seniors David Harbin, Mica Pilz, Shirley Hixson, Kevin Chernosky, Jeremiah Coldsmith, Rebecca Seitz, and Joel Popma, and juniors Sarah Factor, Rebecca Huston, and Leonard Vigna. The UPJ team took second place in the conference simulation behind host Wright State, with Sarah  Factor named as Best Delegate, and Shirley Hixson (Security Council delegate representing France) and Rebecca Seitz (Committee on Racism delegate representing the Netherlands) receiving honorable mention commendations. Sarah Factor and Rebecca Huston were selected to serve as official committee chairs in the DAYMUN conference in 2002.
