* THE CENTER FOR WEST EUROPEAN STUDIES (CWES) AND EU-CENTER at the University of Pittsburgh.
CWES, directed by Professor Alberta Sbragia, is an administrative unit with University-wide responsibility for the coordination and development of scholarship and teaching related to Western Europe at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, the University of Pittsburgh is the host institution for the administrative offices of the European Community Studies Association, which is dedicated to promoting general public awareness and furthering specialized knowledge of the European Union (EU). This site is fairly accessible and provides also a basic overview (history of the EU, links to treaties, global statistics, and comparisons to the US) of key issues without overwhelming the neophyte on EU matters.

* ECLAS -- LIBRARIES CATALOGUE
European Commission ECLAS is a bibliographic data base consisting of ca. 180 000 completed catalogue records in the domain of European affairs; about 7 000 new records are added annually. About 20 DGs manage and catalogue their departmental collections in ECLAS. The data are catalogued in USMARC format and will be downloadable as such in the next version of ECLAS ECLAS is freely accessible on the server EUROPA. ECLAS provides bibliographical references for publications, but no document delivery or copy service is available.

*MISSOC -- MUTUAL INFORMATION SYSTEM ON SOCIAL PROTECTION
in the Member States of the European Union. MISSOC provides comprehensive statistical information organized in comparative tables on all EU member countries. Its objectives are to provide rapid, comparable, regularly updated information on social protection and social welfare systems and policies in the Member States, while at the same time analyzing the principal trends in the Member States and the factors triggering adjustments to the respective social protection systems. Fifteen national experts working in the relevant Ministries. The central secretariat, situated in Cologne, cooperates closely with the European Commission.
