The University of Pittsburgh Calculus
Textbook
James Stewart, Essential Calculus, Early Transcendentals 1st or 2nd edition.
Any other edition of Stewart's calculus is also okay, but the sections are in a different order
and you have to figure out what section is covered in the class. Note that the only homework
is through LON-CAPA and no homork is assigned from the textbook, so you do not have to worry
that with a different edition of the textbook you would not know what the homework problems are.

Grades
will be determined as follows:
- Two midterm exams 50% (25% each)
- Final exam 30%
- Lab assignments (LON-CAPA) 10%
- Quizzes 10%
The course will be curved to have a right distribution of grades, but an important rule is that
the final grade cannot be more than one letter grade higher than the final exam grade.
Exams
- First Exam: October 1 in class.
- Second Exam: November 7 in class.
- Final Exam (all day sections): 8:00-9:50, location TBA
The final exam is the departmental one and it is the same for all the sections.
Quizzes

scoress will be dropped. Each quiz will last approximately 5-10 minutes and will consist of 2 short
