I. Approval of Minutes
I attach the minutes of the meeting on November 16, 2004.
II. Proposal to Establish a Cross-Campus Integrative Molecular Biology
Program
I attach a proposal to establish a cross-campus Integrative Molecular
Biology PhD program, submitted by John Cooper, Dean of the Arts and Sciences,
and by Arthur S. Levin, Dean of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice
Chancellor of the Schools of the Health Sciences. I did not
attach the lengthy vitas of the entire training faculty but they are available
in 809 C.L. if you wish to review them. Faculty from across the campus
prepared this proposal for a collaborative program which will result in
a PhD in Integrative Molecular Biology, either in Medicine or Arts and
Sciences, depending on the location of the student’s major advisor.
Students will be admitted into a single program and the advising and course
work will be a shared responsibility of faculty from both schools.
This is intended to be a small, high quality program. Representatives
from the program will attend the meeting to present the case and answer
questions.
