The Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA) is the student government organization that represents the interests of all graduate and professional students at the University of Pittsburgh. The governing body is made up of four executive officers in addition to representatives from each schools student governments. As the governing body for graduate and professional students, GPSA takes an active role in ensuring that the concerns of all graduate students are heard.
The University Council on Graduate Study (UCGS) develops basic standards, regulations, and policies applicable to all fields for graduate instruction and research. UCGS reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations to the provost concerning proposals for new post-baccalaureate degree and certificate programs throughout the University after such proposals have had prior review and approval by the appropriate people within the school.
The University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Association (UPPDA) aims to facilitate a more constructive and positive experience for postdoctoral scholars that will benefit the postdoctoral scholars and the University of Pittsburgh alike. Its membership is composed of those who identify themselves as postdoctoral scholars according to the definition of the Association of American Universities.
