University Council on Graduate Study
AGENDA
Tuesday, January 21, 1997
3:00 - 5:00
817 Cathedral of Learning

AGENDA

I. Approval of the Minutes
The minutes of the meeting on November 12, 1996 are attached.

II. Review of the Doctoral Program in Nursing
The report of the Subcommittee for the Evaluation of Academic Programs is attached. Dr. Lynda Davidson, Doctoral Program in Nursing coordinator, and Barbara Seels, chair of the Internal Review Committee, will attend to answer questions. The full reports of the Internal Review Committee, the External Review Committee and the departmental response are available for review by any member of UCGS in 801 Cathedral of Learning.

III. Review of a Proposal to Terminate the Masters Program in Interdisciplinary Studies
I attach a proposal which I prepared, a copy of a letter Donald Henderson wrote in 1989 explaining the administration of the program, and a xerox of the latest flyer describing the degree requirements. The University Council on Graduate Study is the "surrogate" faculty for this program and thus you are being consulted as part of the process of preparing the proposal to terminate the program.

IV. Changing Job Market for Graduates
The Task Force Report prepared last year by UCGS (see attached) has not yet been circulated to deans. At a GPSA meeting I attended in December the issue of placement success and the assistance given to graduates searching for jobs was discussed. I am planning to send this report out. Are there any changes or additions we want to make to the report?
