II. Role of UCGS
Elizabeth Baranger will briefly discuss the role of UCGS in the governance of graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Council members might be interested in looking at the home page of UCGS: http://www.pitt.edu/~graduate/ucgs.html

III. Activities of Council in 1996-97
The draft of the 1996-97 annual report of the UCGS and the annual report for the 1995-96 year are attached. Council will be asked to approve "Report of 1996-97 Activities" which will then be mailed to faculty in early October.

IV. M.S.W. Off-Campus Degree Program and Annual Report of the Murtha Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at UPJ
The report of the UCGS Graduate Procedures Committee will be presented by its chair, Lou Pingel. Please see attached background information. The Annual Report of the Murtha Center is attached for your review. Discussion of this agenda item may need to be continued at a future meeting.

V. Future Activities of UCGS for 1997-98
We will discuss some issues which might be future agenda items. Any ideas members have about initiatives UCGS should explore or problems which need to be solved should be brought for discussion.
