  • Buy the Textbook Online:

We will be using the eighth edition (that's the newest edition for 2008) of Statistics for Management and Economics by Gerald Keller.
    The ISBN-10 is: 0324569491.
    The ISBN-13 is: 978-0324569490

According to the Pitt Campus Book Center online price guide, available here in PDF (go to page 97 for stat 1100), they have the text for $193 unused, or $145 used.

Since it's a new edition, used copies might be scarce, so the campus bookstore might give the best price; but you can try searching online by ISBN number. For instance, here is the book at Amazon dot com. They're offering it for $157 (but be sure to double-check the ISBN number; watch out for the 'abbreviated' or 'international' editions, which may not be the same as the class text).

Some suggestions if buying the text online:

    1. Don't get the 'abbreviated edition'. It might not contain all the chapters.

    2. I would avoid the 'international edition', which might have the material in a different order or other slight differences.

    3. The 'teacher edition' is fine for class (and also won't give any special advantage), but you might have a slightly harder time re-selling it afterwards.

    4. I don't require anything except the textbook itself (no supplementary manuals or other materials that some sellers might 'bundle' with the book). I also probably won't use the Compact Disk, but every edition of the book probably automatically comes with that, anyway.

    5. Before buying online, always triple-check the edition, the ISBN number, the shipping time, and any negative comments about the seller. Caveat Emptor.
