A. CDIE PUBLICATIONS
The June 1996 CDIE Publications List, available in paper and electronically through USAID's Internet Gopher lists CDIE publications including, among others, the following:

B. CDIE SERVICES
CDIE offers the following services for Agency personnel:
1. Assistance in strategic planning Assistance in doing strategic planning, updating strategic objectives, and preparing or revising results frameworks are available from CDIE staff and its contractor MSI/PRISM and in the future through PME Indefinite Quantity Contracts (may require mission or bureau funding).
2. Assistance in performance monitoring and evaluation Assistance in choosing indicators and setting performance targets, developing performance monitoring plans, assessing alternative sources and quality of data, analyzing and reporting data, and designing and carrying out evaluations through CDIE staff and its contractors (as above).
3. Assistance in accessing development experience information and lessons learned from USAID and other donor programs. Assistance with on-demand searches and analyses through the Research & Reference Services contract. Includes searches of commercial and government databases, the Internet, and interviews with experts. Responses are tailored to requester's needs.
4. Access to relevant economic and social statistical data. Assistance in accessing over 50 international databases, identifying appropriate data, performing statistical analyses and preparing presentation graphics for on-demand data requests is available through CDIE's Economic & Social Data Services (ESDS) contract. A statistical data diskette subscription service is available for Agency staff.
5. Technical assistance and training in searching the Internet. Technical assistance and training in the targeted use of resources including the Internet are available from CDIE's R&RS (development experience information) and ESDS (statistical data resources) contracts.
6. Access to Agency development experience reports and publications. Agency documents, reports, and publications can be obtained through CDIE's Development Information Services Clearinghouse (DISC) contract (PN or PD document order number required). CDIE's Development Information Center (DIC) helps customers identify and order USAID reports.
7. Access to non-USAID publications through inter-library loan. The Development Information Center (DIC) lends non-USAID publications available in the DIC to USAID staff worldwide. It provides material borrowed from other libraries to USAID/W requesters. Overseas Mission staff may receive extracts of relevant portions of borrowed materials.
8. Repository for all Agency development experience reports and publications. Send paper and electronic versions of all Agency development experience reports and publications to CDIE Acquisitions, USAID, PPC/CDIE/DI, Room 209, SA-18, Washington, D.C. 20523-1820. Electronic versions may be sent via Agency email to the CDIE_ACQ mailbox, or via Internet email to the CDIE_ACQ@USAID.GOV mailbox.
C. HOW TO ACCESS CDIE'S PUBLICATIONS AND SERVICES
Requests for technical assistance for service items 1 and 2 above should be channelled through regional bureaus. Other services listed above and CDIE publications can be accessed in two ways:
1. By placing a request through CDIE_INFO@CDIE.RRS@AIDW Send an email with your request for publications (including the CDIE publications list) and services 3-8 listed above. Within 24 hours you will receive a response indicating what action has been taken and who is responsible for following up on your request. You can also contact individual researchers via email or telephone.
2. By accessing USAID's Gopher site through the USAID Internet Home Page Access USAID's Gopher site (a non-Windows Internet access) at the Internet location: http://gopher.info.usaid.gov. From the Gopher main menu select "Documents and Publications," then select "USAID Publications and Reports." Select the sector of interest, followed by "Evaluation Publications."
