This page contains Education for Peace and Reconciliation project descriptions, experiences learned and actual educational materials (e.g. curriculum, methodologies, and handouts) developed in Somalia.
1. A teacher's handbook entitled "Let Peace Begin with Me."
This contains activities focused on the role of the individual in bringing about peace, the rights and responsibilities of children, awareness of others as equals, communication, conflict awareness/resolution, peace, justice and tolerance. Each activity includes objectives, description, comments and teaching aids.
2. Abdi's Dream Comes True and Other Stories
This is a booklet containing 20 stories some of which are of Somali origin. Among the values taught are cooperation, friendship, and consideration. Each story has follow-up activities and comments meant to help the teacher guide the class toward assimilating its moral teaching.
3. Singing for Solidarity
This is a booklet which features old and new songs that emphasize learning to live with others and learning to live together. An audio tape containing these songs goes with the booklet.
4. "Word Game"
This contains sixty cards, each one with an image and word denoting either conflict or peace. At the back of each card, there is a sentence on human rights.
5. "Peace Wins Game"
A game rather like "Snakes and Ladders" where every peace-related move is rewarded with an advance and every non-peace-related move means the player moves back and has less chance of winning.

7. Supplies
