Tolerance Education for Educational Administrators Project Objective: To increase thech conflict theory and the practise of non-violent conflict resolution on an interpersonal level for the classroom and home environment.. Target Group: Teachers Duration: 5 days Workshop Objectives: To introduce the concepts of conflict theory and show teachers how it can be presented.(Key concepts include the potential positive nature of conflict, and that conflict is a process and not a state.) Target Group: Teachers Duration: 5 days Workshop Objectives: To reinforce the concepts taught in the introductory workshop. To discuss any problems encountered in implementing participatory methodology and project materials To show teachers how to present and discuss concepts like stereotyping, racism etc.. To evaluate the lessons developed as a result of the first workshop. (These then become part of the shared teaching resource.) To promote/share the experiences of those who have stated professional associations/clubs which seek to implement the project. To assist teachers to develop new lessons Human Rights in the Classroom * Project Objective: To increase the knowledge teachers and therefore students of their rights and obligations as stated in the UDHR and CRC and to give teachers the ability to teach these in the classroom. Target Group: Teachers Duration: 3 days Workshop Objectives: To present an overview of the main instruments (UDHR & CRC) and the concepts that underlie them. To demonstrate how to present the concept of human rights to their students and the instruments in the classroom. It is hoped that if large scale violent conflict breaks out or seems imminent that community leaders will demand that a mediation process take place or apply it themselves. Target Group: Teachers, Youth leaders, Local Government Officials Duration: 3 days Workshop Objectives: To further explore conflict theory and how it applies beyond the interpersonal level. To explore the traditional means used to deal with conflict. To examine other alternatives: Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation To learn about the processes involved in mediation and to practise these skills in a fictitious simulation. To examine how these skills could be applied to the school/youth group/local government environment.
