Academy's consultancy plays increasing role in leadership decision-making http://www.chinanews.com/news/9604/11/041111aa.eng Beijing, April 11 (CNS) -- The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is playing a significant role by offering a valuable consultancy service for the government's decision-making process. The Academy offers services by means of its two journals; a total of 257 editions were submitted to the Chinese leadership for reference last year, nearly half of which drew great attention from the central authorities. The Academy is China's main body for carrying out social research while also acting as the leading advisory group and aide to both the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the State Council. Speaking at the Academy's meeting on information circulation, Ru Xin, Vice-President of the Academy said that the main duty shouldered on the Academy was to present research achievements to the Party and the State Council for reference. The central authorities had received 71 reports submitted by 22 ministries and commissions between January and November last year. Seven of these reports submitted by the academy were examined by leading officials which included Zhu Rongji, Qian Qichen, Ding Guangen, Ren Jianxin, Li Lanqing, Wu Bangguo, Song Jian, Li Tieying, Luo Gan and Ismail Amat. A number of advice made by the Academy were accepted by some government organs and later turned into instructions or regulations. The leadership also further examined some proposals put forward by the Academy.
