11. Ford sponsors Chinese MBA http://www.chinanews.com/news/9603/11/031101aa.eng Beijing, March 11 (CNS) -- A group of 27 candidates for the degree of Master in Business Administration (MBA) at Qinghua and Xiamen Universities will be assigned to the Ford Motor Group of companies in mainland China on a four-month placement to gain experience of working in a multi-national corporation prior to graduation. This short-term placement programme accords with US Trade Secretary Ron Brown's "Management and Education Co- operation Plan" which aims to train senior business executives through both academic learning and practical experience. Under the scheme, each participant will be posted to different departments on a rotational basis where they will gain wide exposure and interaction. Each will be under the personal guidance of an individual member of Ford management staff and at the end of the placement, their progress will be evaluated. The rising number of Sino-American enterprises in recent years has led China to see the pressing need to train senior managers. It is hoped that this programme, together with related practical sessions and academic exchanges, will broaden the outlook of the MBA candidates as well as expand their experience and ability, in one of the world's major companies. --end item CNS 0311-01
