Textbook: Proteins- Structure and Molecular Properties, Second Edition, Thomas E. Creighton, Freeman, NY, 1993 ISBN 0-7167-7030-X
Grades:
There will be two exams, one midterm and one at the end of the term. Each will count for 30% of the grade. There will be weekly homework assignments based on literature exercises, in total counting for 30% of the grade. In addition, each student will have the opportunity to present a discussion of a research paper for an additional 10 points. A satisfactory discussion will be awarded 10 points, while a less than satisfactory presentation will be forgiven and the student will be asked to repeat the process. Guidelines for the presentation will be given during the first lecture. An abstract must be prepared and turned into the instructor, as well as passed to the class. The abstract should be constructed in the following way:
Recitation: There will be a weekly recitation/help session on Monday Evening in Room 621, or at another time and place chosen by the class and the professor that week. Except for the weekend before an exam, the recitation will cover only the immediately preceding week's material. Recitations given on weekends before exams will cover all of the material on the exam.
