2005 - Division 52's Denmark-Reuder Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Psychology of Women and Gender.

2003 -  Distinguished Service Award.  Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.

2000 -  Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Women in Psychology.

1999 -  Legacy Award [for carrying the torch for psychology in the Pittsburgh Community] by the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association.

1998 - Distinguished Publication Award.  Association for Women in Psychology.  Awarded for Co-edited special issue of  Psychology of Women Quarterly on the measurement of gender-role attitudes.

1998 - Elected as a Charter Fellow for Division 52 [International Psychology] of the American Psychological Association.

1998 -  Faculty Exchange Program.  University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

1994 - Fulbright Research Fellowship.  University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

1992 -  Included in Women's Heritage Exhibit highlighting the contributions of 100 women to psychology.  For American Psychological Meeting, 1992.

1989 -  Carolyn Wood Sherif Memorial Lectureship Award.  Awarded by APA's Division 35 for Research, Teaching, and Mentoring.

1986 -  Master Lecture for the American Psychological Association on "The Female Victim:  Rape, Wife Battering, and Incest".

1984 -  Distinguished career award by the Association for Women in Psychology.

1983 -  Publication named by  Social Citation Index as "Citation Classic",  awarded for articles that have become "one  most cited items in its  field."  [1971 Journal of Personality article].

Since 1979 -  Selected for Who's Who of American Women.

1978 -  Elected by Division 35 (Psychology of Women) of the American Psychological Association as a Fellow.  Elected as Fellow to Division 9 in 1980 and to Division 8 in 1983.

1968-71 -  NIMH Predoctoral Fellowship

1967 -  Elected to Membership in Phi Beta Kappa

1966 - NSF Undergraduate Research Program Participant
