Lots
of people that you know or have heard of speak more than just English.
Really, who wants to be a MONOLINGUAL-- someone who speaks only
one
language?? Studying a language in high school, middle school, or
even elementary school puts you on track to being BILINGUAL -- someone
who speaks two languages -- or maybe even MULTILINGUAL
-- someone who speaks many different languages!
When you get to the point that you attain some level of proficiency in another language, you'll be in good company. Check out the list on Page 2 of people who speak more than one language. You're bound to know at least a few of them!
The people listed on the next page come from
a variety of language backgrounds. Some studied another language
in school. Others grew up bilingual. For a few listed below,
English is actually their second language.
