Richard Kent Zimmerman, M.D., M.P.H.
Associate Professor
Richard Kent Zimmerman, M.D., M.P.H. is an Associate Professor in
the Department of Family Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology and holds
a secondary appointment in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences
at the Graduate School of Public Health. After
graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in medicine,
Dr. Zimmerman completed first a residency in Family Practice
followed by a residency in Preventive Medicine and a fellowship
in Academic Family Medicine and Clinical Investigation. and is
board certified in both Family Practice and Preventive Medicine.
As an active educator, Dr. Zimmerman coordinates the Indian Health
Service Clerkship in Family Medicine and precepts the Ambulatory
Care Course and Community Ambulatory Medicine Clerkship. His major
area of interest is immunizations in both children and adults
and currently serves as a voting member of the Advisory Committee
on Immunization Practices, Center for Disease Control, which
establishes the national immunizations schedules. Dr. Zimmerman
is also the Principal Investigator of two federally funded research
projects on immunizations and has authored numerous publications
and teaching materials on this subject.
